KP Astrology
A birth chart read in the Krishnamurti Paddhati system, which is built to answer when rather than what.
KP astrology, short for Krishnamurti Paddhati, is a system of Vedic astrology developed by Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti. Rather than judging a planet only by the sign it occupies, KP divides every sign into nine sub-divisions and gives each one a sub-lord, and does the same across the twelve houses. A claim only stands if the sub-lord of the relevant cusp supports it, so KP is used to answer a narrower question than sign-based astrology: not what will happen, but when. It needs an accurate birth time, and if you do not have one I will tell you before you pay, because a KP reading built on a guessed time is worse than no reading at all.

The same nine-fold division is applied across the twelve houses. In practice a house cusp is judged by its sub-lord rather than by the sign on it, which is why a KP reading can reject a prediction that a sign-based reading would accept.
How a KP reading is carried out
Four stages
1. Birth data. Date, time and place. The ascendant moves through all twelve signs in roughly two hours, so a birth time that is wrong by more than a few minutes puts the ascendant, and therefore the entire house structure, in the wrong place. With an unknown time I fall back to the Sun sign, which discards most of what makes KP worth doing, so I will usually tell you the reading is not worth the fee before you pay it.
2. Chart and sub-lords. The chart is cast and every sign and every house cusp is reduced to its sub-lord using the table above.
3. Cuspal support. For each area you have asked about, the sub-lord of the relevant cusp is checked against the grahas connected to it. A claim is only accepted when the sub-lord supports it. This is the step that narrows a tendency down to a period, and it is also where most sign-based predictions get rejected.
4. Dasha and transit windows. The periods in which the supported events become most likely are identified, discussed with you for 45 minutes, and sent to you in writing so you can keep them and come back to them.
What KP is good for, and what it is not
KP is a timing system. Given a general tendency, for example that a graha is well placed for business, it will usually tell you which dasha and transit period makes that tendency actionable. In practice you get windows for a promotion or a job change, a property transaction, a marriage or a partnership, a financial upturn, a period of health caution, and a period where waiting is better than moving.
It is not a replacement for a full sign-based or planetary reading. If what you want is a description of your entire chart, the strengths and weaknesses of every graha in it, and a general reading of your life, then a traditional Vedic reading serves you better and a KP reading will feel too narrow. If what you want is to know when to act, KP is the right system and a traditional reading will not give you that.
The trade-off is that KP demands accurate data. A KP reading built on a guessed birth time is worse than no reading, because it is confidently wrong rather than vague.

Questions people actually ask
The same answers appear in the site's machine-readable files, so an assistant reading this page and an assistant reading llms-full.txt get the same thing.
- What is KP Astrology?
- KP Astrology, short for Krishnamurti Paddhati, is a system of Vedic astrology developed by Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti. It divides each of the twelve zodiac signs into nine sub-divisions and assigns each a sub-lord, and it does the same across the twelve houses. A prediction is accepted only when the sub-lord of the relevant cusp supports it, which is why KP is used to answer when an event will occur rather than what it will be.
- Why do you need my exact birth time?
- A birth chart is calculated from the position of the planets at the moment you were born, and the ascendant in particular moves through all twelve signs roughly every two hours. If your recorded time is wrong by more than a few minutes the ascendant, and therefore the whole house structure, shifts. With an unknown or approximate birth time the ascendant falls back to the convention of using the Sun sign, which loses most of what makes KP analysis precise. If you genuinely do not know your time, tell us and we will discuss whether the reading is still worth doing.
- What can KP astrology tell me that a normal birth chart reading cannot?
- Mostly timing. A sign-based reading will describe a tendency, for example that a particular graha is well placed for business. A KP reading is built to narrow that tendency down to a period. In practice that means the months or dasha periods where a promotion, a property purchase, a marriage or a change of direction becomes more likely, and where waiting is the better option. The trade-off is that KP requires accurate birth data and produces narrower, more specific answers.
- How long does a KP astrology consultation take and what do I get?
- The session is 45 minutes and the price is ₹2,499. You get a complete KP birth chart, sub-lord and cusp analysis across the twelve houses, dasha and transit timing for significant periods, specific windows for career, business, finance and relationship questions, and a written summary of the findings afterwards.

Before you book: what a reading cannot do
Numerology and astrology are traditional systems of self-reflection, not validated prediction, and I do not read them as anything more than that. Nothing I give you is medical, legal, psychological or financial advice. I do not quote an accuracy percentage, because one without a defined method means nothing, and I have not run the study that would make one honest.
