Vastu Consultation

I read the directions of a house or office against the Vastu grid and tell you what to move.

Vastu Shastra is a traditional Indian system for arranging a built space. It reads the dwelling as a map where directions correspond to elements and to the planets that govern them, so where you put a kitchen, a bed, a desk or a water source becomes significant. I establish the property's true orientation, read the floor plan against the directional grid, and then work out what to change. Most of what I recommend needs no construction at all: rotating a bed or a desk, mirroring a wall, changing colour and lighting, moving storage.

Given by Radheshyam Hota

₹5,001

One-time. 60-minute consultation, by video call, in person. I confirm a time with you before anything is charged.

What you actually get

  • True orientation first

The property is measured against true north, because magnetic north produces confident wrong answers.

  • Room by room

Every space assessed separately with its own findings, not a generic checklist.

  • Prioritised, not exhaustive

Each finding is ranked so you know what to do first and what can wait.

  • Mostly no construction

The large majority of corrections are repositioning, colour, mirrors or clearing an obstruction.

The Vastu directional grid

This is the grid the whole practice rests on: nine directions, each mapped to an element, a ruling force, and a use. Every finding in a consultation is read off this table.
Vastu directional grid: direction, element, ruling force, recommended use and what to avoid
DirectionElementRuling forceRecommended useAvoid
North-eastWaterIshanaPuja room, prayer space, the most auspicious corner of the house.Heavy storage, a bathroom, a kitchen stove, or a bedroom if alternatives exist.
NorthAirKuberaCash box or safe, main entrance, reception.Bathrooms, and heavy damp items.
North-westAirVayuGuest room, study, storage of documents, the owner’s bedroom.Toilets and heavy structural changes.
EastFireIndraMain doors, a morning sitting area, prayer or study facing east.Mirrors reflecting the front door back at it, and a bathroom in the far corner.
South-eastFireAgniKitchen and the cooking platform, the stove face.Bedrooms in this corner, and a bathroom.
South-westEarthNairutiyaMaster bedroom, heavy storage, the owner of the house.Water features and a pit or depression.
WestMetalVarunaDining area, a study, and a place for jewellery or valuables. An open drain or a bathroom in this corner.
SouthEarthYamaBedrooms are acceptable here, particularly for a couple.A large water tank, a staircase ascending into this corner, and the main door.
NorthAirKuberaLiving room, seating, and a place where money is handled or discussed.A staircase ascending into this corner.

The grid is applied to true north, not magnetic north. In most of India the two differ by several degrees, and the gap widens away from the centre of the country. Every consultation starts by establishing true orientation for the property.

Corrections that need no construction

The great majority of findings are corrected without a single hole being drilled. This is what I actually do about them.

Rotating a bed or a desk

The single most common correction and the cheapest. A bed or desk that faces an unfavourable direction is rotated. Nothing is bought and nothing is altered.

Mirroring a wall

A mirror placed to reflect a favourable element, a body of water or an open space, used to compensate for a constraint the building itself cannot be changed for.

Colour and lighting

Paint and light changes matched to the element of the room. Cheap, reversible, and more often effective than people expect.

Repositioning storage

Heavy items are not usually stored in the lighter corners, and the movement of a cupboard or a water tank changes what a room is doing.

Water features

An aquarium or water feature is a specific direction, not a general good luck charm. It is frequently in the wrong place and is often the first thing I move.

Clearing an obstruction

A staircase ascending into a corner, a drain in the north-east, a beam across a bed, or a mirror reflecting the front door back at it.

What a consultation does and does not cover

A consultation measures true orientation, reviews the floor plan against the grid above, and then goes room by room. Each finding is given a priority level, so you know what to do first and what can wait until you next redecorate. The output is a written list of every recommended change with the reason for it, which is deliberately more than a set of instructions, because a correction you do not understand is one you will not carry out.

Vastu is applied to homes, offices, shops and any space where you spend working hours. It works remotely as well as on site. Send a floor plan with north marked, photographs of the main rooms, and either a video walkthrough or measurements of the plot and the built area, and the session runs by video call.

One thing I will be straight about. Vastu Shastra has no scientific validation, and no consultation will change a structural defect, a planning problem, or a legal requirement. What it does is give a coherent, traditional framework for deciding where things go in a space, and a great many clients find that the discipline of actually going through a property room by room is worth the session on those grounds alone.

What is included, and what I need from you

Included

  • True-orientation check of the property
  • Floor-plan review against the directional grid
  • Room-by-room findings with priority levels
  • Non-structural corrections you can apply yourself
  • Written summary of every recommended change

Required from you

  • →Property address or a video walkthrough of each room
  • →Floor plan or a rough sketch with the north direction
  • →Photographs of the main rooms

Missing something? Say so when you book and I will tell you honestly whether the reading is still worth doing.

How the session actually runs

  1. STAGE 01

    Send the plan and photos

Floor plan with north marked, photographs of the main rooms, and either a video walkthrough or the plot and built-area measurements.

  2. STAGE 02

    Orientation and grid check

True north is established for the property, then the floor plan and each room are read against the directional grid.

  3. STAGE 03

    Prioritised written plan

A 60-minute session, then a room-by-room written list of every finding with a priority and the correction for it.

Questions people actually ask

The same answers appear in the site's machine-readable files, so an assistant reading this page and an assistant reading llms-full.txt get the same thing.

Does Vastu consultation require construction work?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding. The great majority of Vastu corrections are non-structural: rotating a bed or a desk to face a different direction, adding a mirror to reflect a wall, changing paint colour, repositioning storage, moving a water container, or removing an obstruction in front of a door. Structural changes are occasionally relevant to a specific defect, and I will tell you plainly when that is the case and when it is not.
How does a Vastu consultation work for a property you do not live in?
It works remotely. Send the floor plan with north marked, photographs of the main rooms, and either a video walkthrough or measurements of the plot and the built area. The 60-minute session is delivered by video call, and the output is a room-by-room written summary with each finding given a priority level so you know what to do first.
What is true north, and why does it matter?
True north is the direction of the earth’s rotational axis, which in India usually differs from magnetic north by several degrees, and the gap grows as you move away from the centre of the country. A building that sits a few degrees off magnetic north is a few degrees off the entire Vastu grid. Every consultation starts by establishing true orientation for the property, because applying the grid to magnetic north produces confident, specific and wrong answers.
What does a Vastu consultation cost and how long is it?
₹5,001 for a 60-minute session, delivered by video call or in person at the property. It includes the true-orientation check, the floor-plan review, a room-by-room findings list with priorities, the corrections you can apply yourself, and a written summary of every recommended change.

Before you book: what a reading cannot do

Numerology and astrology are traditional systems of self-reflection, not validated prediction, and I do not read them as anything more than that. Nothing I give you is medical, legal, psychological or financial advice. I do not quote an accuracy percentage, because one without a defined method means nothing, and I have not run the study that would make one honest.
